What to do if u find a cow with a cidr in the middle of nowhere?

If u find yourself in this predicament like i did last week hopefully you will have your cattle so hungry for salt that when u throw out a block or two they will absolutely attack it. This allows u to sneak up from behind and pull the cidr out. I wonder why we have so many open cows with our great management?
